.. / henrik wimelius / department of informatics / umeå university / sweden

Another of my main interests work-wise, is constituted by the web development field. Before returning to the department of Informatics, I worked professionally with web development in two different companies. My interest for web development in general and web standards in particular has persisted, and has amongst other things resulted in the development of two courses; "Media production for the WWW" and "CSS-based web development". Besides developing educational courses directed towards web standards, I am also interested in the web from a theoretical point of view. For example, I am currently writing an article under the working name “Making Sense of a World of Information - Perspectives on Web Technologies”. The article examines information production and distribution on the web trough the perspective of information growth theory.

I have also participated in several web development projects within the academic sector as well as the private sector. Following are some examples of recent projects that I have participated in. If you are interested in other projects I have participated in, feel free to contact me.

  • Umeå University (screenshot)
Umeå University has for some time now developped a new web powered by the open source CMS InfoGlue. My part in this project has been to construct the fundamental structure and presentational layers for the site. This means realizing the design in XHTML and CSS.
  • Waxbook (screenshot)
This is a web service I have developed together with a company called Metacue specifically focused towards providing support to cross-country skiers interested in ski waxing. For more information about the service, visit the web site.
  • Kii (screenshot)
This is a commercial web site that was developed in Flash and simple HTML. It is somewhat experimental design-wise. I mainly contributed to the ActionScript programming and HTML coding.
  • Anja Pärson web site (screenshot)
I got the opportunity to develop the web site of Anja Pärson together with some friends. My contribution here was to realize the design in CSS and XHTML in addition to some more technical features.

If you are interested in other projects I have participated in, please feel free to contact me. My contact details are found on the first page of this site.
