Claude Doom, EHSAL European School, Brussels: ICT Strategy, Architecture and Charge-out

In this seminar, we look at ICT from the viewpoint of the business of a company. A framework is presented to approach ICT and to elaborate an ICT strategy and architecture, starting from the strategy and the goals of the business. A methodology is presented to derive an ICT strategy from the business strategy and to obtain an overall ICT architecture from the ICT strategy. In a second part of the seminar, we consider the charge-out of ICT services. As more ICT departments in businesses operate as (internal) service providers, the need arises to calculate the cost of ICT services and to charge the use of ICT to the users. We describe a method for calculating the cost of ICT services, based on the prinicples of activity based costing.
