Matthew Jones, Cambridge: Knowledge management in IT/Management consultancy

Management consultants have been among the leading proponents and practitioners of knowledge management (KM). The limited literature on KM practice in consultancies, however, is dominated by often self-promoting reports of the success of their own KM systems, along with a few studies of consultants' strategic role as knowledge brokers or their KM strategies. In this seminar I will discuss findings from a six-month participant observation study of an IT/Management consultancy, examining both their KM strategy and their KM practice. Comparisons will be drawn with the picture presented in the literature
