Erik Stolterman, Andreas Lund and Mikael Wiberg: Workshop on IT, Theories and Design: Research, Exploration and Innovation

This workshop explores the often discussed gap between the traditional research discipline and the design tradition. A point of departure is that in the area of Informatics there might be the case that it is necessary to align these two traditions if research into some areas of IT use and design should be possible to conduct. The workshop will open up with three short presentations by Erik, Mikael and Andreas and then the audience is invited to take part in the discussion. Erik will introduce the subject and Andreas and Mikael will present how they think about design as a necessary part of their research. They will also talk a little bit about why they have choosen this approach, why it is important and some risks with conducting this kind of research.
