Thomas Ahlmark: X-ploring Individual Aspects of Computer Use – a User Study

During the last decades the development of information technology has lead to more complex functionality, and diverse areas of use. Computers are used by all ages, for everything from recreation and playfulness, to advanced work and communication. In that context it is important, and interesting, to try to understand how this technology is used, and how it works for different people.

This seminar will present some of the findings from a study of students at the department of Informatics earlier this year. The goal of the study was to see if there is a relation between individual preferences, expressed as personality, and the use of computers and computer software.

The study is part of the work of a thesis with focus on human diversity and information technology. The seminar will also briefly present future plans in this work, and some ideas of further studies.

Välkommna!
