Fredrik Ljungberg, Ph. D., Viktoria Institute and Göteborg University: Moving Out of the Meeting Room. Exploring meeting support for mobile settings

By examining the ways in which mobility features in the day-to-day meetings of staff in a public organisation, we explore meeting support' for the mobile work setting. The empirical study sheds light on the ways in which such meetings (1) are established; (2) involve multiple threads; (3) serve as important ways for people to brief each other about past and future events; and; (4) involve technology. To emphasize the differences between these kinds of meetings on one hand, and traditional meetings' and informal communication' on the other, we introduce the concept of mobile meetings. Based on the empirical study, we elicit some general implications for the design of meeting support mobile meetings.
