Eric Monteiro, Assoc. prof, Norwegian Univ. of Science and Technology and Univ. of Oslo: ANT and systems development

There has for quite some time between an increasing acceptance that systems development – the design and introduction of information systems – include also a host of social and organisational issues. There is, however, a lot less agreement about what this is to imply in terms of practical, theoretical and methodological repercussions. In the talk I will motivate for, present and discuss one specific approach, namley actor-network theory (ANT). This is an approach born out of the interdisciplinary field of social studies of science and technology (STS). In the talk I argue that ANT provides a fruitful basis for systems development.
