Ramses Fuenmayor, Department of Interpretive Systemology, Universidad de Los Andes, Mérida, Venezuela:
Heidegger's "Question Concerning Technology"
The famous essay "The Question Concerning Technology" by M. Heidegger will be read and discussed through this weekly seminar. Along the course of its reading, I will attempt both to show a non-technical way of reading and reflecting upon a (philosophical) text and to bring on board some further issuses like that of the boundary between modernity and postmodernity, the possibility of ethics in high modernity (or postmodernity), the possibility of practical thinking against the hegemony of instrumental thinking and some others.
This seminar will be the first in a series of seminars. We have planned 21st of May, 28th of May, 4th of June and 11th of June for the rest of seminars.
As you all know we also plan a seminar of Information Technology and Pedagogics. If this seminar, will take place, which I hope, we may have to reschedule some of the above mentioned seminars. If so, you will be noticed.
I will distribute a copy of Hedigger1s essay to be used during the seminars.
